Smoking and Cancer

I grew up in a household where both my parents smoked a lot and luckily I never picked up the habit. The bad thing is that my younger brothers are going through the same thing and 2 of them have asthma which the smoke just makes worse. Now there is research that not only are you getting second hand smoke from the smokers around you, but you may even be a risk for developing a different type of cancer than a smoker could be facing. This is the first I've heard of non-smoker cancer so if any of my readers know anything more, I would be interested in hearing the information.

  1. That is a very interesting article. I have heard about this before and it is really terrible. It's sad to hear that your younger brothers have to deal with the smoke it must make their asthma even worse being around it all of the time. I'm glad that you did not pick up the habit because it leads to so many terrible illnesses. The non smoker cancer is awful especially because the person did not do anything wrong to get the cancer, they were just subjected to the smoke from others. Maybe showing your parents the article will help them to see what could happen from their smoking.

  2. Unfornately, I have brought things like this to the attention of my parents with little success. You can have the best intentions in the world but you can't force them to stop, they have to realize it on their own.
